Catalyst Management Team

Reality is the Missing Ingredient...

In the industry of growth consultants, marketing agencies, and sales training firms, we found something significant missing — reality. We are in the reality business. Catalyst Performance Group is an executive team of deep generalists who specialize in sales and marketing strategy and execution. We are your strategic partners with the brains, talent and moxie to find solutions you can’t find on your own. Not cookie-cutter solutions. Not "big Ideas" that can’t work in the real world. Solutions that create results. Big-time results.

    Bryan Feller

    President, Catalyst Performance Group

Bryan first conceived of Catalyst in 1995 while working for a low-tech furniture manufacturer in a no-growth market. While conventional wisdom saw this as a career dead-end, he took the company from $2 million to nearly $20 million in four years — focusing on the fundamentals of marketing and innovation. As the VP of Sales & Marketing for Afterburner Seminars, Bryan rode the wave of aggressive growth again —making the Inc. 500 list of fastest-growing companies twice in five years.

Today, as President of Catalyst Performance Group, Bryan works with companies from the Inc. 500 to the Fortune 500 — helping clients achieve sustainable growth. Bryan brings a truly unique perspective to the business of growth. He is a deep generalist — a manager, strategist, coach, innovator, technology guru, copywriter and servant leader.

Struggles and adversity help define who we are and forge in us values we will never compromise. During his two-decade career, Bryan has seen his share of corporate tragedy. Bryan worked alongside a COO who threatened his life when he blew the whistle on corporate embezzlement. As a GM of a fast-growth software company, he watched his hard work dissolve on September 11th, along with much of the U.S. economy. He worked for a major leadership development company and witnessed the toxic management one would liken to Enron. These experiences brought Bryan a deep sense of compassion for people that balances an insatiable drive for results.

Bryan is a renaissance man — a marketing zealot, innovator, leader, theologian, rock climber and former martial artist. He holds a Baccalaureate in linguistics and Biblical Language and holds a Masters in Business Administration. He’s attracted a diverse team of high-caliber talent, each working toward the same powerful vision — to achieve unprecedented results through experience, opportunity and insight. And, on this team, character is as important as talent.

Bryan has been happily married for 20 years, with two beautiful children, Westley and Courtney, and resides in Southern California.

    President, SDA Creative

Mark Samuels leads SDA Creative, the Web and creative division of Catalyst Performance Group. He is a branding genius and creative powerhouse. Mark earned a Bachelor of Arts in fine arts from Long Beach State University. He teaches marketing at the University of California at Irvine in his spare time.

Mark was advertising art director at Surfer Magazine. He soon became a nationally-known branding specialist. He was responsible for branding such well-known names as Quicksilver, Roxy, Mikasa and K2 skis.

In 1994 Mark co-founded Samuels Darnall & Associates, which eventually became the creative arm of Catalyst Performance Group. While keeping his roots in the high-energy sports marketing sector, Mark’s group has branched out into mainstream corporate America. His creative team breathes life into clients in practically every sector from manufacturing, B2B services, retail, software, packaged goods, healthcare, training and more. Most mainstream corporate brands fall into a kind of brand entropy. While they all attempt to be different, they publish marketing communications dribble which is not creative and doesn’t sell. Mark’s team knows how to bring a powerful, dynamic edge to corporate marketing.

Mark and his team bring a wide range of creative expertise to the table, including print design, photography, video, Web and interactive media, package design, 3-D outdoor advertising, book publishing and complete corporate branding. As a leader, Mark is the boss everyone dreams of working for. He is honest, zealous and he knows how to select good people. Then he lets them do their jobs.

Mark resides in Laguna Hills, California, with his wife and their three children.

    Matthew Gore

    President, Nightglass Media

Matthew Gore leads Nightglass Media, the video production arm of Catalyst Performance Group. What has given Matt an extraordinary level of success is his combination of business pragmatism and creativity. Having the foresight to see the effects that nonlinear post-production would have on the television/video industry, Gore started Post Modern Editorial, Inc. in 1993. His vision grew to reality as approximately 95% of all television and film productions are edited in a nonlinear environment. In October 1998, Post Modern Editorial was the first facility in the U.S. to take delivery of the Avid Symphony uncompressed editing system, once again becoming pioneers in post-production. The overwhelming success of Symphony again confirmed his foresight and savvy.

Gore has won numerous awards, including five international and seven national Tellys. His credits include Supervising Editor on 13 episodes of "First Flights" with Neil Armstrong for Arts and Entertainment Network; Editor of "The Making of Gettysburg", a 30-minute special for Turner Network Television; and Editor of "Nazi Hunters: Stalking Evil", a 60-minute special for Turner Network Television. Several trade magazines have also selected him as an interview subject/expert for commentary on post-production issues. The Governor of Georgia appointed Gore to the Georgia Film and Videotape Advisory Commission and the Technology Subcommittee. Gore was recently sworn in for a second term as a member of the Georgia Film, Video and Music Advisory Commission. He also serves as a member of the Technology Subcommittee.

Gore’s media division has won over 20 industry awards, including three CableAces and two Emmy nominations. The editorial staff has worked on documentaries, specials, interstitials, commercials and corporate communications. Broadcast projects include individual 60- and 30-minute programs for A&E, TNT, Turner Classic Movies, ESPN, ESPN Classic, FoxSports Net and TimeLife. His corporate clients have included Coca-Cola, The Home Depot, BellSouth, DuPont, MCI WorldCom, Lucent Technologies, Napa Auto Parts and Holiday Inn.

As the Internet and other forms of media technology continue to evolve, Gore’s group has expanded its creative menu to include CD-ROM/DVD design and authoring, front-end Web design, compression, Web casts and streaming.

Gore resides in Duluth, Georgia, with his wife and daughter.
